Encapsulation and Conformal Coating
Conformal coating involves applying a moisture resistant material directly to a PCB in the form of a liquid membrane or varnish. Once dry, the conformal coating acts as a barrier to moisture, dirt, and debris.
Encapsulation is the complete or partial submersion of a circuit in potting compound. This method is ideal for projects that may be subject to impacts, extreme vibrations, high temperatures, or submersion in liquids.
